The psychological analysis and personality profile that follows below will extend in every respect from material appearing in The Illustrated Textbook of Psychodiagnostic Chirology in Analysis and Therapy (1st and 2nd editions). For students of PDC the relevant pages are noted in the text. Published in 2004 and again in 2013 this textbook has reached students and practitioners in the behavioral sciences in over 80 countries.
There are numerous expressions of intelligence the significance of which extend beyond what we understand as IQ. (See the chapter on the Lower Transverse Line, pages 126-133. Consider in particular page 130 and fig. 131 for reference to Creative Intelligence). Note in both fig. 1 and fig. 2 how the lower horizontal line carries in a mild arc from the radial edge of the palm (the thumb side) to the middle of the heavy longitudinal mount (the Hypothenar Eminence) at the opposite ulnar side of the palm. This marker exposes a strong faculty of abstract conceptualization that expand the possibilities of available information. It is this faculty that has us speak of a creative intelligence. What we find here is a disciplined mode of cognition that permits inventiveness without the material taken out of its original context. There is yet another biometric marker indicative of a creative intelligence. This can be seen in fig. 3 to the right. (See page 86, fig. 80). Note the round tapering fingertips encircled here. From the PDC textbook: "The fingertips contribute an appreciation of the temper of the individual's responsiveness to the world immediately external to himself, or herself." It lends itself to an intuitive grasp of a situation - one that permits an open and creative fluidity in decision making - one that is not constrained to fixed or rigid conceptualizations. There would be both an emotional and an intellectual grasp, and responsiveness, to any situation. This would be powerfully reinforced by what follows.RICH CORE IDENTITY: EMOTIONAL SENSIBILITIES: SOCIAL ORIENTATION; LIBIDINAL ENERGIES: The focus of our attention now centers on the profound development of the Thenar and Hypothenar mounts which are prominent features in fig's.1 and 2. In popular literature these would be the Mount of Venus on the radial side, and the Mount of Moon on the ulnar side. These largely define the libidinal energy resources available to an individual and which would virtually dictate their manifest expressions in that person's attitudes and behaviors. These are features essentially of a genetic and organic nature. They promote both physical and emotional needs and drives, which in this instance, would be very highly charged. (See pages 32-54). In psychoanalytic literature libido is described as an energy factor that is essentially "object seeking". Indeed, it is this energy factor that brings the neonate to bond so perfectly with its mother. When seen in an adult we know that this person would have to be people oriented. It is for this reason, judging from the generous dimensions of these mounts in Pres. Putin's hands, that we may speak of a profound social orientation and social interactions. The Thenar Mount would be the seat of the libidinal energies that focus predominantly on external, real-world objects. With the dimensions of this mount what they are, we must account for an energy factor that generates considerable warmth - warmth marked by devoted friendships and very strong and physical sexual drives. The Hypothenar Mount, on the other side, has the singular distinction of serving as the home of the individual's core, or nuclear, identity (per Heinz Kohut). Within its matrix are the most fundamental references a person would have to himself, or herself - references that sensitize the person to the condition that is his, or her life. The stronger this dimension, the surer would be the individual's recognition, and the stronger would be his, or her, subsequent identification, with his, or her, choices in life. The same Hypothenar Mount constitutes the subconscious dimension in the psyche. It is the prime generator of a person's emotional sensibilities and emotional responsiveness to stimuli - a responsiveness originating with the organic Body factor in a man as opposed to a compulsive, intellectualized and calculated responsiveness originating with the factor of Mind. When an individual is exposed to the stimuli of an experience, this information would normally be delivered to this subconscious dimension whose singular chemistries in its matrix deliver this person's specific emotional response to that experience. In the instance of Vladimir Putin this emotional responsiveness would very nearly dominate his attitudes toward virtually every facet of his life. This dimension, again, as seen in fig's 1 and 2, is a powerhouse of energy and a fixture in every one of his decisions. It would not be entirely wrong to say that his feeling is his thinking.
